Picture this, it’s summer and hot and as luck would have it, your air conditioner (A/C) broke down…once again. Whether your compressor failed, or your Freon is leaking, the repair costs can certainly add up throughout the years. In addition, repairs may not fully restore your system’s

functioning capacity. There’s simply no question the time has come for you to invest in a new A/C unit, but you feel the need to justify the spend. Look no further. The professionals at Air Rescue can review all the options with you. Meanwhile, here are a few of the really good reasons to replace your old A/C unit sooner than later.

Improved Efficiency

New air conditioners will always be more efficient than older, outdated models. A new unit should immediately improve the coldness and humidity level you experience. They also tend to consume far less energy, resulting in lower energy bills.

Improved Comfort

One of the first things you’ll notice after installing a new A/C unit is that your home is much more comfortable. It should be noticeably cooler and less humid even on the hottest days of the year. In addition, older units are often very noisy, with a loud steady humming in the background. Modern A/C units tend to be much quieter.

Fewer Repairs = Cost Savings

Common sense tells us that a new A/C unit will not require as many repairs as older ones, not only because they are newer but also because they are built more efficiently. Older A/C unit repair costs tend to get higher and higher as the unit ages and as warranties wear out if they existed at all.

Better for the Environment

Newer A/C units are more environmentally friendly. The refrigerant called Freon found in older A/C units is being phased out because of its harmful effects on the ozone layer. In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ordered a stop on its production by January of 2020.  Newer A/C units will instead use the more environmentally-friendly refrigerant called Puron.

If your A/C unit is older than 10 to 15 years and is either breaking down or no longer effectively cooling your home, it may be time for you to consider upgrading to a new unit.
