5 Tips to Keep in Mind When Your Air Conditioner is Dripping

It’s the middle of summer, and your air conditioner is dripping water. What do you do? It’s a question that a lot of people find themselves asking, especially during the hottest months of the year. In this blog post, Air Rescue experts will provide reasons why your AC is dripping and how to resolve the issue.

How to Fix a Dripping Air Conditioner?

1. Clogged condensate drain line

This pipe carries away the water that condenses on your AC coils. If this pipe is clogged, it can cause water to back up and drip from your AC unit. You can clean the condensate drain line yourself or hire a professional to do it for you.

2. Frozen evaporator coils

When coils freeze, it prevents the proper flow of refrigerant and causes water to build up and drip from your AC unit. You can thaw out the coils yourself or call a professional to do it for you.

3. Clogged air filter

A clogged air filter prevents proper airflow and can cause your AC unit to freeze up. You should replace your air filter every month or two to prevent this from happening.

4. Cracked or overflowing drain pan

If the drain pan is cracked, it will need to be replaced. If it is overflowing, you will need to clean it out and ensure the drain line is not clogged.

5. Refrigerant leak.

Refrigerant leaks are serious and can cause your AC unit to stop working altogether. If you think you have a refrigerant leak, you should call a professional to come and take a look at your unit. Sometimes, drips from your AC unit may be due to condensation from humid air, especially in areas with high humidity levels. To prevent this, you can use a dehumidifier or increase ventilation in your home.

These are just a few reasons your air conditioner may be dripping water. If you’re still having trouble, we recommend to call Air Rescue professional to come and take a look at your unit. We will diagnose the problem and provide a prompt AC repair service.
